Matthew's Mission

Busy crafting mama Kristy read about Teeny Tears on Obsessively Stitching.  She had leftover fabric from a NICU Smock Project that she and her family had taken on last Christmas and the scraps were perrrrrrrfect for transforming into teeny little diapers.
After discovering that her local hospital was fully stocked with Teeny Tears diapers, this sweet mama was willing to send her collection of diapers wherever it was needed most.  I matched her with Matthew's Mission, a beautiful organization made in honor of Matthew Pierce Boothe, who was born sleeping on November 17, 2011.  Matthew's Mission provides care packages for angel families at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana.  The good folks at Matthew's Mission are deeply appreciative for this generous contribution to their care packages.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Kristy!  You can follow this crafting/sewing/artsy mama here!

Real Men Sew Teeny Diapers

When you envision a typical Teeny Tears volunteer, the first stereotype that comes to mind is an offensive lineman from the local high school football team, right?  No?  Well, maybe it should be.  And maybe it will be after today!
I received a beautiful email from a local Eagle Scout candidate that was very interested in adopting Teeny Tears for his Eagle project.  He received quick approval from the Scout committee, so he gathered his family, a friend, and his fellow scouts to sew 72 diapers for angel families!
The fantastic team rolling up their sleeves...
You have a tear in your eye, don't you?  (I don't blame you.)
I'll have you know that this invested young man picked out each and every one of the fabrics for these gorgeous little diapers.
These 72 diapers have been donated to the SHARE Project of Cache Valley, Utah.  SHARE chapters are located all over the United States and serve those whose lives are touched by the tragic death of a baby through early pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or in the first few months of life.

A great big THANK YOU to Tanner for choosing Teeny Tears and to all those that participated in his Eagle Project! Words really cannot express how impressed I have been by you throughout your entire project or how touched I have been by your willingness and enthusiasm to make teeny tiny angel diapers.

Father and son!  Great men, sweet men, awesome family; I can tell you that.

TTTS Foundation Diapers and Conference

We are blessed to have great support from the Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome community.  I am raising a single twin survivor, having lost our angel son Dex to TTTS in November of 2008.  Many of our diaper-making volunteers are families whose lives have been forever impacted in some way by their run-in with this dangerous disease that affects identical twin and triplet pregnancies; we have all had many varying outcomes, but we are united in our love for TTTS families everywhere.

My friend Jana is also raising her single surviving TTTS twin, having lost his brother in June of 2011.  She recently created 50 diapers for the Twin to Twin Transfusion Foundation to use in their bereavement packets.  They have been donated in loving memory of All TTTS Angels.
Established in 1989 out of love for Matthew Steven and Steven James, the TTTS Foundation is dedicated to providing immediate and lifesaving educational, emotional, and financial support to families, medical professionals, and other caregivers before, during, and after diagnosis of TTTS.  They are dedicated to saving babies, improving future health and care, providing NICU, special needs, and bereavement support, furthering medical research, and keeping families together the way twins are meant to be.

If you or someone you know is pregnant with twins or triplets, please have them read through these questions that should be asked at the very first ultrasound.  It could very well mean the difference between life and death.

We have been honored to be spotlighted this year at the TTTS Foundation Parents And Awareness Conference in Cleveland, Ohio July 27 - 29!!  Our patterns, flyers, and diapers will be on display at a booth during the Conference for all of the attendees.  There will be educational speakers from within the TTTS community, a Remembrance Ceremony, a TTTS Awareness Walk,  Balloon Release at Lake Erie, and so much more.

A huge THANK YOU to Mary and Laura with the Foundation for choosing to highlight our special kind of love, spreading awareness of our project throughout the TTTS community and medical grapevine in such a big way.

Do You Shop Online?

NO!  Registration is FREE.  There are no fees at any time for your participation.  No cost to you, nice donations for Teeny Tears!

How does it work?  Do I have to know which stores are participating?
You do not have to know which stores are participating.  When you register for iGive.com and choose "Teeny Tears" as your cause, you will download the icon to your toolbar.  Whenever you purchase through a participating store, the purchases and donations will be automatically calculated!  There is nothing for you to do except shop as normal!  (And you have to keep the button installed for at least 90 days or it will reverse the bonus!)

How much will this benefit Teeny Tears directly?
When you sign up for iGive.com and choose Teeny Tears as your cause, iGive.com will give a $5 bonus to Teeny Tears just because you registered!  If you make an online purchase within 45 days of signing up, Teeny Tears will receive ANOTHER $5 bonus!  Beyond that, any purchases you make through participating stores will donate a small portion of your order directly to Teeny Tears.

What if I never shop online?  Would this still help?  What can $5 do for Teeny Tears?
$5 for Teeny Tears will purchase enough flannel, safety pins, and thread to soften the road of approximately TEN grieving families.  We are passionate about providing modesty and dignity to the worlds tiniest angels.  We shop sales and rely upon the generosity of others.  We appreciate every scrap of fabric that is dropped on our doorsteps, each stack of diapers that arrives in the mail, and every dime that is contributed for shipping expenses and diaper-crafting materials.  $5 would indeed be a meaningful contribution to our project.
